7:00 pm

Pan Pan presents a special double header featuring John Bidulph and Zyggurat, two acts that combine electronic exploration and live instrumentation to create vivid soundscapes, evocative of the natural world and man made structures.

Come down for a night of electronic-focused experimentation.

A heady brew of improv, noise and remix culture that showcases the depth and diversity of the left-field music scene in Birmingham and beyond.

It’s a slice of cosmic pie for all the family, washed down with a hot jug of granular gravy. All in one Pan.

John Biddulph

Electro-acoustic multi-instrumentalist John Biddulph makes soundscapes inspired by the natural world and heritage sites in the UK and beyond as well as calling on his jazz influenced past alongside Courtney Pine and Django Bates and The Grand Union Orchestra and experiences of world music with Salamat and Nazakat Ali Khan and world famous tabla player Raj Sahota.

John has performed in major venues throughout the UK and in mainland European cities including Athens, Berlin, andin Iceland (exploring the Icelandic Sagas in sound). He has been described in the media as ‘creating washes of sound giving way to beautifully crafted themes that transport the listener into otherworldly realms’. Hear sounds inspired by witch marks in caves, stone circles, and underground labyrinths in some of his recordings available on Bandcamp - bandcamp.com/handmadesound his most recent album, 5 Places to Bathe available on limited edition cassette explores well-being and mental health.

John’s music using electronic sounds mixed with saxes, bass clarinet, waterphone, Luminist Garden, and field recordings has resulted in invitations to play festivals and major venues in the UK and mainland Europe. John balances his music activities with his daytime clinical work as a consultant in the field of autism.
