Home/Lands Listening Party
19 Apr
/
1:30 pm

Alicia Gardener-Trejo (baritone saxophone/flutes) and Andrew Woodhead (piano) will be performing a special duo set featuring music from Home/Lands' debut self-titled album. Following the live performance, Pan-Pan will be airing the full album, including the singles Following & Home/Lands Theme.

Home/Lands is a musical exploration of home and what it means to belong, led by multi-instrumentalist & composer Alicia Gardener-Trejo. With collaboration at the heart of the project, the band use the topography of familiar landscapes as catalysts for composition, take poems and short stories as writing prompts, and exchange musical stimulus in a pass-the-parcel approach.

Their music plays with the sonic possibilities of low woodwinds & double bass, experimenting with fresh ideas of melody/bassline responsibilities. With strong influences from the world of jazz and folk, Home/Lands features improvisations, game-pieces and intricately crafted melodies.

The performance will start with a support set from the Gemma Fletcher Quartet.

Gemma Fletcher: 2pm

Duo Set: 2:45pm

Album listening: 3.30pm

The event is free, but there will be a suggested donation on the day.

Come down for a night of electronic-focused experimentation.

A heady brew of improv, noise and remix culture that showcases the depth and diversity of the left-field music scene in Birmingham and beyond.

It’s a slice of cosmic pie for all the family, washed down with a hot jug of granular gravy. All in one Pan.
