Directed by Dr Louis Brehony, the film follows the origins of the band Kofia - formed by Nazareth-born Palestinian songwriter George Totari in Gothenburg, Sweden. Forced out of Palestine in the wake of the 1967 Nakba, Totari brought together a group of radical Palestinian and Swedish musicians and activists, who gained a reputation in Europe and internationally for their building of a resistance culture. In solidarity, we will be playing a compilation of the band's music post-screening and collecting donations for Palestinian-focusessed organisations actively supporting those impacted in Gaza.
BEDTIME STORIES is a sonic practice studio championing research on experimental sound and oral heritage. We critically explore sonic heritage and live sonic practice via creative production, curation, and academic research, alongside experimental broadcasting and peer to peer mentorship.Our work fosters intergenerational learning and appreciation of undervalued scholars, practitioners, collections, libraries, and pioneers in sonic learning. @bedtimestories.studio | www.bedtime-stories.club

Falasteen on Film is a community cinema that showcases a wide breadth of best Palestinian cinema across Birmingham. A key way we work is through collaboration; we believe in the power of community and in particular, the vibrant film community in Birmingham. We also believe in the power of art as a functioning core to connecting communities and people. Specifically through a combination of a careful curation of film alongside artist led workshops.
